For Minnesota Aurora FC’s first-ever Pride kit, I was honored to create a design celebrating the LGBTQ+ community while connecting Pride, Minnesota, and Aurora’s identity.
Inspired by the aurora borealis, the kit uses movement, color, and contrast to represent visibility, resilience, and collective light.

Phoenix:
Chosen as a symbol of rebirth, resilience, and transformation. The Phoenix represents rising, becoming, and continuing forward, making it a meaningful connection to Pride and the strength of the LGBTQ+ community.
Andromeda:
Chosen to represent beauty, vulnerability, and liberation. Andromeda’s story reflects endurance and freedom, honoring queer visibility and the power of being seen.
Cygnus:
Chosen for its connection to love, transformation, and devotion. As the swan of the night sky, Cygnus reflects fluidity, softness, and strength.
“In Darkness We Still Shine”:
This phrase became the heart of the kit. Inspired by the Aurora Borealis, it represents queer joy, visibility, and resilience continuing to shine through the dark. It serves as a reminder that Pride is not only about celebration, but also about belonging, community, and the power of being seen.
Design Process
This kit went through many rounds of exploration and refinement, though not every version will be made public. I began by researching the history of Pride in Minnesota, along with previous Pride jerseys across different teams and sports.
That research helped shape the final direction: a kit inspired by the Aurora Borealis, Pride, and the night sky. The final design brings together movement, color, constellations, and the phrase “In darkness we still shine” to create something meaningful to both Minnesota Aurora and the LGBTQ+ community.
